Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc. (YETI)
Novelty Notes and the non-profit charity organization, Youth Enhancement Training Initiative (YETI), have joined together to raise funds to support truly needy orphans in Nepal - one of the poorest countries in the world.
As a result of civil war, Nepal has a devastating number of parentless children. Due to lack of funding for proper orphanages or foster programs, most of Nepal's orphans become child laborers, street children, or victims of abuse in child trafficking.
In response to visiting Nepal and seeing some of these children first-hand, Jeff Papa, an Indiana native, created YETI. In 2004, YETI built an orphanage in one of Nepal's most needy villages. As a result, YETI hosts a variety of fundraisers in order to raise the nearly $17,000 required annually to provide its 26 orphans with food, shelter, clothing, and education.
This year, YETI has also pledged to begin raising funds to build a small library that will serve both the orphanage as well as the village school. This two-room building will offer books as well as a few computers. Jennifer Carlton, owner of Novelty Notes, is committed to serve on this campaign and will share this journey with you by documenting the planning, fund raising efforts, and ultimately, the successful completion of the library.
